Two volumes. 404p; 471p. Steel-engraved frontispieces and title pages and two other engraved plates. Bound in publisher's blue cloth with yellow endpapers, a.e.g., the spines with gilt titles and dense floral ornaments surrounding a standing lady with outstretched arms repeating the image on the engraved title page of Vol. I (from Lord Falkland's Dream), the upper covers with central gilt whaling vignette repeating the image on the tittle engraved title of Vol. II (from The Pelican Island). The whaling image is repeated in blind on the lower covers. Heavy foxing at the engravings, very small chip to cloth at crown of Vol. I, else remarkable fine bright copies. Item #18577
