Illustrated with a vertical fore-edge painting of a Chinese landscape in the style of the Sung dynasty. Bound in gilt speckled purple wrappers and stab sewn with gold silk thread. Housed in folding brocade case with interlocking decorative flaps, with bone clasps. Two bits of worming on the fore-edge, else fine. Item #22402

A very lovely and finely detailed fore-edge painting.
Chinese fore-edge decorations can all be dated 1936 to 1942, no matter what the dates are that happen to appear upon the title-pages of the books. (Weber p. 163).
